Pua in Iban means blanket and Kumbu means to wrap. The Pua Kumbu is originally a ceremonial textile made by the tie-and-dye technique. It is well-known among the Iban tribe, a community that covers a majority of the population in Sarawak, Malaysia.

Inspired by the Iban Pua Kumbu design, this pareo is made by the natives in Borneo, this pareo is the embodiment of elegance and femininity of the Iban women.

Lepo Tau is a homegrown local brand that is headed by Jude Benjamin Lisa who hails from Miri, Sarawak and is of Lunbawang ethnicity. With a degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from University of Science Malaysia under his belt, he started his own company called 'Introducing', a boutique specializing in talent development, public relations, marketing and digital. He is also active in the fashion scene, having been the National Director and license holder for Miss Grand Organization since 2015 until currently.

Through Lepo Tau, Jude hopes to motivate and cultivate small time businesses and retaining long term business goals for Sabah and Sarawak native entrepreneurs.

 

He currently lives in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
