ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Lydia Lahong Wan is the founder of Lahong Enterprise and hails from Baram, Sarawak. Being of Kayan descent, she is talented in beadwork where she makes bracelets out of Orang Ulu beads, a skill that has been passed down throughout many generations.

Lydia is truly passionate in her culture and strives to continue the legacy of her traditions through her artworks.

To realize this goal, she joined a social enterprise called Borneo Street Kuala Lumpur (BSKL). BSKL is a one-stop centre for all traders from Sabah and Sarawak to market their local products in Kuala Lumpur, ranging from handicrafts to local cuisines. Here, Lydia started her own brand called Lahong Enterprise where she introduces her exquisite beadworks to her customers.

She hopes to inspire the younger generations in the pursuit towards preserving the rich history and culture of the Orang Ulu native through the beadworks that she does.
